Huzzah !

Well alrighty ! Today has been a good day. Ive got five of the main component's for the pip boy art worked. Three of them ( the back piece ) completely done.

Was only meaning to finish one part after work but got a bit carried away.

The photo's don't really do it justice as it's a horrible yellow workshop light but i'll try to get some done in the daylight and post those as well.

Anyway here are some shot's...

Figured it's should look a bit bashed about seeing as the vault hunters had a bit of a fucking hard life !

Below is the backside in it's three separate printed components.

This is two of the front pieces at a metal finish stage. Still have colour and ware to add.

Fuck it ! Kermit's back !

Try to get the final piece of the main body done tomorrow but think I got a busy day coming up ( although there alway's fucking busy aren't they ?

Stay lucky San Diego !

Two a day ? He's fucking Loco !

Hate blogs that scroll forever so thought i'd post two today.

First off Kermits back. Soz, but it's not my fault. That's the colour it ships with. Any way if you read the previous post you'll have seen the first cleaned up piece.

This is just to show what printed today.

Yup it's the piece that failed the other day. As its been running ok thought i'd risk a 4 hour print. This time it worked a treat. Also put supports in this one. It's in high build now so hopefully clean it up tomorrow.

Ooohh. And I think it goes together like this. Although I wont lie, I  havent looked at the instructions on how it goes together !

And here is a pic of everything I have so far.

Hmmnnn yep your right that does look a bit shit. Look good when it's done though.

Right beady bye's. ( Not really ! Iron Man 3 )

HEY YOU GUY'S !

Yup ! Three point's if you guessed that was me being Sloth from The Goonies. Well done.

Now I believe I promised that Kermit the frog filament was gone so.........

Tadaaaaaaaahhhhh !

Is that Kermit checking out his reflection ?

So this is the peice that I printed the other day. Shit ! Just seen the green reflection in the top photo. Annoying.

This was just a quick clean up using high build primer ( three coats the other day ) and then a lickle bit of sanding at lunch and after work. I'd say 20 - 30 mins top. Just wanted to get rid of those facet's that print with all of the curved surfaces.

My friend was saying that the facets are the 3d softwares interpretation of a curve using many lines to do this, makes sense I suppose. However almost all of the photo's show these facet's so I wanted rid of them. Also I grabbed an image of the pipboy from wikipedia and , yeah zero facets. Didnt have that image when I threw some paint at it though so once it's all done i'll go back and artwork it using that reference.

It's not too bad really especially as everything is really rushed. This is what i'll artwork it up as eventually. Source - Wikipedia.

Well then the idea of doing this blog everyday has failed after , oooohhhh, less that a week.

To be fair i'm busy and trying to do too much I think so  i've decided to print one thing per day as long as i'm in the workshop and if I can get one piece art worked a day i'll be happy.

Still working !

Afternoon. Had a busy day at work on friday but managed to get in early and get another part of the pipboy on the machine and running in the morning. Here is a little shot of it halfway through the build.

It looks good here but the over hang of the circle was a bit sketchy by the time it had finished. Nothing I can't fix though.

Now I know you must be getting bored of seeing vague shapes made of bogey's but bare with me as once it start cleaning and art working  it up, well, phwooey it's gonna get exiting. Well ok, not exiting maybe but definatly less green !

Ooh look I just noticed you can see the other part in the background ! It's beige because it's had three coats of high build primer.

I had a little clean up at lunch and it come's up a treat !

So i'm not going to be around the printer for a couple of days now as I'm on set on mon but should be printing again from tues. Also hoping to start print some of my characters next week time permitting, hell yeah.

Any way bye for now internet and have a great rest of your weekend.

Peace out.

Now were cooking.

Alrighty. Today has been a good day. Iv'e been trying to get to grips with the Cube during teabreaks and lunch breaks and i'll be honest with you, how it hasn't ended up in a million peices is a miracle.

Managed to get it printing after lunch and 3hrs in to a 4&1/2 hour print it failed with a blocked nozzle.
Ce la vie. Up until that point it was looking pretty sweet. Going to slice the model in rhino and print the remainder and glue the two pieces together rather than reprint the whole thing.

Any how here are a few pic's of today's failure/triumph. Think I might start printing with a support structure in it to see if that helps any.

Impressed with the holes in it !

And here we have a little high build primer on just so I can have a little clean up tomorrow seeing as the cube will be running faultlessly and i'll have my breaks back. Cos it is going to be running faultlessly from now on right ?

And this is what i'm printing at the moment. Pweeeeeeeease don't fail. Pwetty pwease !

I want to kill a puppy !

Oh my good god.

I so very nearly lost my shit today. Got my car back today so turned up to work 3 hours late and £1200 pounds lighter in the wallet department. So that was me in a good mood to start off with. Any way all morning i'm thinking well it's up and running now so i'll set it up at lunch and print off the back plate for the pipboy 3000 ( it's a 3 hour print ).

As i still had the aborted print from yesterday on the bed  I popped it in the bowl of warm water as it says to do in the manual and waited for it to  " peel off naturally ". I have an hours lunch break. So when I was there with a scalpel trying to chisel the bastard thing off after soaking in repeated bowls of increasingly warm - scalding water I was getting the hump big time.

I duly set up the printer once I had yesterdays blob removed only to run out of time.

Ok, no problem. I'll get it running at afternoon break. It means i'll have to stay on a bit to see it finish printing but that's fine.

Afternoon break comes around. I know lets use the WiFi connection to load the file.

F**k sake you F******g  piece of f*******g s**t.  So that's afternoon break taken care of and no WiFi.

So now we are after work. The workshop is empty and I can concentrate on firmware updates and WiFi connections.

Without getting in to boring details the cube soft ware is very prone to unexpectedly quitting mid operation. 12 times in an hour.

Managed to get it running but it was gone past 8pm at this point so went for a smaller piece with a print time of 19 minutes.

Now I know i'm a novice but even I know that the rubber shroud around the print nozzle shouldn't fill up with Kermit snot, fall off  and cause the print bed to drop 10mm.

Cut to 20 minuets of boiling water and a scalpel to clean the bed and we are back in action.

No, not wirelessly. You trying to wind me up ?

Right lets do this again. Why not ? It's not like it's 8'30 at night  and iv'e been here for two hours is it ?

Holy crap it's printing. It's really printing ! Mum come look. Still loving the sound these things make.

So this is the printed scroll wheel finish ar 9pm.  It was going fine untill the last few layers when it seemed to start dragging the previous layers with it and messed it up. Don't know why that is.
Any idea's

The Cube has landed.

Hell yeah ! It's here.

So at just after lunch this afternoon my 3d printer arrived. Whoop whoop. Unfortunatly we were up against it at work so he ( yes it's a he ) sat on a bench in the corner until we finished for the day.

Cut to six thirty and I went at it like a kid on christmas day....

Okay, so first impressions ?

Somebody wants to be Apple don't they ?  A well designed bit of packaging for sure. Thinking about it I bet they have the icube patented anyway but you do look at that box and just want to graffiti the i on it.

Now if this was apple you would open the box to find a printer whose body has been machined out of a single piece of aluminium.

Not so the cube. Aah, bless  it's plasticky little cotton socks.

Any way as my car is still in the garage I had a couple of hours to kill as I was waiting for my fiance to finish so set about getting it up and running. Pretty easy setup, really was idiot proof to be honest with you.

So I know I said I was going to print something original for my first piece but it's been a long day and the option of just smashing out one of the free files was to hard to resist.

Rook anyone ?

Only printed for about five minutes before I got my orders to leave but it was enough see it in action.

Did panic a wee bit when the start of the print just seemed to spread green shit around the bed but after a few passes it was starting to lay up.

One thing I wasn't expecting is how hypnotic it is I could sit and stare at that for hours i think.
And the noise it makes as it prints does it for me as well for some reason.

Hopefully get it running something tommorow and see what happens. Thinking may a piece of the pipboy2000 as I can compare against my friends Ultimaker.

Chow chow for now.
